Case study on demand side management‐based cost optimized battery integrated hybrid renewable energy system for remote rural electrification

Abstract Power demand of isolated villages where on‐grid power supply is not economical can be met by standalone renewable energy system. Hybrid system (HRES) considered in the current study involves photo‐voltaic, wind turbine, diesel generator, and battery. In present study, side management methods are used for management. The load shifting strategic conservation used. schemes applied stage estimation. It observed analysis that, net cost (NPC) $55 263 reduced to $34 009 with application strategies. two control strategies, load‐following predictive‐dispatch strategy incorporated. three types batteries like lead‐acid, lithium‐ion, zinc‐bromide integrated, one at a time, analysis. results optimal HRES configuration solution combination both techniques NPC 37% comparison without methods. battery integrated through predictive dispatch electrification cluster located Uralagallu panchayat, Sagar Taluk, Shivamogga District, Karnataka, India. To similar kind geographical condition areas, same approach extended electrification.
